August 2024 Newsletter
President's Message

Happy August, BOMA Greater Tucson!
We wrapped up July with a Christmas themed mixer at Brother John’s Beer, Bourbon, & BBQ and it was great seeing so many of you! July is a busy month for many of our members, and there were tons of monsoon related stories shared to prove it. During the mixer, we also welcomed back Jennifer and Diana from Southern Arizona Book Heros as we concluded our first donation drive. A big thank you to everyone who helped donate and spread awareness for this amazing organization. An extra shout out to Ashley Chiquete with PICOR, for helping organize and decorate this event, alongside our very own Luann Schwartz. Keep an eye out for more information on how we plan to stay involved with Southern Arizona Book Heros though the end of the year!
In partnership with CRE Insight Journal, BOMA Georgia has graciously extended an invitation to BOMA Greater Tucson to virtually join The Communication Compass webinar on August 13, 2024. Per the event flyer:
“Participants will dive into the world of effective communication. It doesn’t matter what you say. It only matters what they hear. We have to learn how to focus on listening and adapting to others, as much as we focus on the words we choose to use. In this session, participants will learn to utilize the Communication Compass tool to explore different communication styles, fostering a more harmonious and productive workplace by minimizing misunderstandings.”
Please visit our website for more information on the webinar and reach out to Luann for the promo code for free registration.
On August 29, we welcome Ashley Stewart, an Insurance Advisor with The Mahoney Group, to talk about Life in a “Hard Market.” Ashley will be sharing her insights and strategies on navigating the soaring insurance premiums. This will be an educational luncheon you will not want to miss. Registration is open and closes August 26th. Please note that this luncheon occurs on a Thursday.
Looking ahead to September, Sgt. Darrell Hussman with the Tucson Police Department will be presenting on de-escalation techniques with tips on how to keep our properties and businesses safe. This event will start with networking and check-in at 2:30 PM, and the presentation being promptly at 3:00 PM and conclude at 5:00 PM. Hors D'Oeuvres and refreshments will be provided.
As our Programs Committee finalizes the 2024 calendar and brainstorms for 2025, please let us know what events, education opportunities, or other ideas you would like to see brought to BOMA GT.
