President's Message

Happy July, BOMA Greater Tucson!

Last week Bry Carter with The Phoenix Staffing presented on leadership, handling conflict, time management, and how to approach these topics with our own teams. Bry had us speak with our tablemates about how we start our day, what kinds of conflict we see in our industries, and what causes stress to us or our team members. It was interesting hearing what our members experience, but it was also great to hear Bry’s insights as to why and how to improve. Bry talked about the importance of recognizing when our teams experience the most stress in a day and by knowing the strengths of each team member that you, as a leader, can help set them up for success. Providing your extroverted employee the opportunity to conduct a site visit during the time of day they typically fall into a slump or encouraging your introverted employee to take a walk to recharge after increased social interactions are small ways to keep your team engaged. Being a great leader is not just helping your team succeed but it also involves owning up to your own mistakes, listening, and believing in yourself to set an example for your team to trust you. If you missed this informative luncheon, Luann has distributed the Bry’s power point presentation and contact information if you would like to learn more.

It is not too late to register for the 2024 BOMA International Conference and Expo in Philadelphia, PA from July 13 through July 16.  If you have questions on the experience, please reach out to me or Luann and we can give our first-hand experience or connect you with other BOMA GT members who have attended. Below is the overview of the event, with the link to the convention website.

In partnership with CRE Insight Journal, BOMA Georgia has graciously extended an invitation to BOMA Greater Tucson to virtually join The Communication Compass webinar on August 13, 2024. Per the event flyer:

“Participants will dive into the world of effective communication. It doesn’t matter what you say. It only matters what they hear. We have to learn how to focus on listening and adapting to others, as much as we focus on the words we choose to use. In this session, participants will learn to utilize the Communication Compass tool to explore different communication styles, fostering a more harmonious and productive workplace by minimizing misunderstandings.”

Please visit our website for more information on the webinar and reach out to Luann for the promo code for free registration.

On August 29, we welcome Ashley Stewart, an Insurance Advisor with The Mahoney Group, to talk about Life in a “Hard Market.” Ashley will be sharing her insights and strategies on navigating the soaring insurance premiums. This will be an educational luncheon you will not want to miss. Registration is open, and please note that this meeting occurs on a Thursday.

As our Programs Committee finalizes the 2024 calendar and brainstorms for 2025, please let us know what events, education opportunities, or other ideas you would like to see brought to BOMA GT.

GIVING CHILDREN HOPE IN THEIR MOMENT OF DESPAIR

    We are collecting items NOW!

We are collecting NEW books, journals, etc. to assist in restocking the duffle bags our law enforcement and first responders carry to help positively impact the kids during an emergency interaction.  Each duffle bag holds approximately 35 books.  Our goal is to fill at least 20 bags!  Currently, they are in need of books which must be generic (no holiday related) for ages 0 - 3; 3 - 6 and 7 - 10.  Coloring books, journals and my communication cards.

Unsure what to buy?  Get a gift card and let us shop for you.

You can shop through the Amazon wish list.  How to get the books to BOMA GT:
1.  Have the books/items shipped to yourself and bring them to a meeting.
2.  Contact Ashley Chiquete to coordinate a pickup.
3.  Drop the books/items off at one of our drop off locations: PICOR or Town West Real Estate
4.  You can also ship your items to the BOMA GT office:  10645 N. Oracle Road; Suite 121; #239, Oro Valley, AZ  85737

This is your opportunity to give a child in crisis a book of their own and make a positive difference in their life.
