June 2024 Newsletter
President's Message

Happy June, BOMA Greater Tucson!
Just a few weeks ago we had the pleasure of touring the Tucson Convention Center with the Director of Sales and Marketing, Kate Calhoun. Kate brought us through the main arena, which was set up for the Tucson Sugar Skulls, and we all kept our fingers crossed that the Roadrunners would return for another season. We toured the renovated meeting halls, the banquet kitchen (sadly, no taste tests), the exhibit halls, and their central plant. Kate even gave us some insight on how she brings talent to the convention center and the services they offer as a full convention center. After the tour, Kustom Restoration and Allied Universal Security Services, were gracious hosts of a happy hour mixer at the DoubleTree by Hilton | Tucson Convention Center. Thank you to all the attendees, and a big thank you to the mixer sponsors.
On June 25, BOMA GT will welcome Bry Carter with The Phoenix Staffing for a team building event. Bry will talk about things like leadership, handling conflict, time management, and how to approach these topics with our own teams. With The Phoenix Staffing, Bry has built out a direct hire division, runs five markets, and has had the ability to train locally and nationally with apartment associations including BAAA, TAA, and the AMA. Her classes include leasing, time management, leadership, recruitment, and maintenance programs. Her passion is helping people and her favorite thing to tell people is if you are comfortable, you are not growing. Please register by June 20, at noon.
Christmas is coming early this year! BOMA GT will be hosting a Christmas in July Mixer at Brother John's Beer, Bourbon, & BBQ. While we plan to partner with Southern Arizona Book Heros through the end of year in other ways, this event will conclude our donation drive. A donation bin will be present at the June Luncheon or Amazon gift cards can be provided for committee members to shop on your behalf through the Southern Arizona Book Heros’ Amazon Wishlist. Donation bins are located at the following drop-off sites from now until the July Mixer:
PICOR Commercial Real Estate Services –5151 E Broadway Blvd., Suite 115, Tucson, AZ
Town West Realty – 555 E River Rd., Suite 201, Tucson, AZ

The 2024 BOMA International Conference and Expo in Philadelphia, PA is quickly approaching. Below is the overview of the event, with the link to the convention website.

GIVING CHILDREN HOPE IN THEIR MOMENT OF DESPAIR

We are collecting items NOW!
We are collecting NEW books, journals, etc. to assist in restocking the duffle bags our law enforcement and first responders carry to help positively impact the kids during an emergency interaction. Each duffle bag holds approximately 35 books. Our goal is to fill at least 20 bags! Currently, they are in need of books which must be generic (no holiday related) for ages 0 - 3; 3 - 6 and 7 - 10. Coloring books, journals and my communication cards.
Unsure what to buy? Get a gift card and let us shop for you.
You can shop through the Amazon wish list. How to get the books to BOMA GT:
1. Have the books/items shipped to yourself and bring them to a meeting.
2. Contact Ashley Chiquete to coordinate a pickup.
3. Drop the books/items off at one of our drop off locations: PICOR or Town West Real Estate.
4. You can also ship your items to the BOMA GT office: 10645 N. Oracle Road; Suite 121; #239, Oro Valley, AZ 85737
This is your opportunity to give a child in crisis a book of their own and make a positive difference in their life.

TOPIC:
Leadership is not optional: Why do you stress out? What makes your team stress out? How do you manage your time? Do you roleplay with team? The definition of crazy is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results…if we want to change how our teams handle stress, conflict, and time management, we need to change how we approach those items. Leadership can curb the crazy just by seeing patterns, and roleplaying with teams…I’ll show you how!
